Rugby portait #2

Posted by
Anthony Morgan Lambert (Bielefeld, Germany) on 29 March 2016 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

My lad !!
Cailean, plays Scum-Half for us since the beginning of this season (he moved from hooker !!)
It makes a Welsh Dads heart fill with pride that his son plays Nr.9

NIKON D7100 1/1000 second F/5.6 ISO 400 420 mm (35mm equiv.)

A few shots this week that are a bit abstract or different.

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

Is he becoming a hipster? :) Nice portrait

29 Mar 2016 9:20am

@grouser: Beards are the trend in Rugby everywhere to be honest. We don´t really have hipsters here in Germany so it definately isn´t that.

franz from Baden, Austria

this is how i imagine a rugby player to look like ... if he isn't a maori ... ;-)

29 Mar 2016 9:25am

@franz: You can be all shapes and sizes to play Rugbxy. It´s a game for everybody and I hope this series of shots show that.

BiLL from Carrickfergus, United Kingdom

He's a big lad! Great capture.

29 Mar 2016 9:45am

@BiLL: Coming from playing hooker he has a lot of stength that some Scrum Halfs maybe don´t have.

omid from mashhad, Iran

@Jeff & Pat: And we've now got a new coach ( a squaddie lad) who knows the ins and outs of nr.9 so he will learn a lot

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

A superb portrait!!!

29 Mar 2016 5:18pm

@Ruthiebear: Thanks Ruthie.

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Great portrait and quite a move from hooker to scrum half

29 Mar 2016 9:15pm

@Doug: He started off as Hooker because of his size and strength (and because nobody else wanted to do it) As our old Scrum Half left the club Cailean put up his hand for the job.He did it better than the other guys who tried out for the position. He is a Mike Phillips sort of Nr.9,strong,direct with a good pass off both hands.

Alun from Elton, United Kingdom

I bet he's enjoying being out of the scrum, cool shot

29 Mar 2016 9:51pm

@Alun: Training up the new hooker is proving to be a bit of a job though !

Elaine Hancock from Rockville, United States

I don't know anything about rugby but to watch your son play on a team is a very proud moment. This is a wonderful portrait!

30 Mar 2016 2:18am

@Elaine Hancock: Rugby is the Grandfather of American Football and it's popularity is growing these days in the US.
