Celtic Cross

A short series of Mono images of Wales.
Laugharne in Carmarthenshire !!

I´ve changed the image over of todays blog !! this morning there was a car in the background of this shot,I´ve now(following a comment by Mellofello) wiped the car off the image.I hope it´s improved the view !!

Hectic life just carries on.Swine flu is running rife in Germany at the moment (have you got it where you are ?) and over a third of everybody at work are sick at the moment so the few left fit,well and fighting are having to push out the over time to make up for the sick and missing !!
I´ll be in to comment when I can.

Judging by the cloudsit looks like you may have had to take shelter in the Cross House. Life's tough sometimes. Nice photo.

@Mike: The "Cross" was closed :-( but the weather wasn´t that bad,the B+W treatment makes it look a lot more dreary than it actually was.In fact the sky had a lovely blue tint through the clouds !!

A lovely shot..but oh how the big modern cars in these little village streets annoy me in general..the villages weren't designed for these big cars and so many times they ruin a shot that could otherwise be from a hundred years ago. Not a critisism of this shot at all - it's great with lovely atmosphere - just an irritant I find myself! And if it's your car in the shot...Nice Car!! ;o)

You don't need speed bumps to slow traffic when you posses the 'fear of god' to do the work for you. Egads, Anthony - nicely captured shooting up into that sky.

Terrific shot! My heart and soul are Celtic (it was a tragedy when Rome won out at the Council of Whitby).

@john4jack: The Synod of Whitby was remember decided in Northumbria,a long way from Wales,especially West wales.Celtic worship went on for a much longer time in rural Wales and Christianity took far longer to take hold in Wales than it did in Saxon England !!

Interesting shot. From the look of the base this cross is a replacement of a much older one.

@grouser: The Cross is an Original 10th Century Celtic cross,although it has been restored !!

And the car has gone!!!! I think you wrote on Mellofellos blog and not MrsAmbers when you mention the comment about the car....this is how I got back to have a look...good on you for persevering...it does make a heck of a difference to the atmosphere of the shot!!!

I got the message directly face to face from mellofello anyway, so all is good! Its still a lovely photo..and those narrow lanes look all the better for no cars in them! [Only 2 days ago I had been to the quaint Kent village of Downe where all the 'quaint' shots were obliterated by the cars parked down the street...so I was in a bit of a general ranty mood yesterday..I really didn't mean it as a critism of this photo!]

@MrsAmber: It wasn´t taken as a critism,no probs.I had had a go at getting rid of the cars because they annoyed me also but I just didn´t have the time first time round to get it right.You comment made me have another go and with a couple of hours to spare I hope I did a fair job.Here´s to streets with no cars !!!
